Eastside Camera Club - 2025 Print Competition
Submit a printed copy of a couple of your photos for a chance to win huge cash prizes and enormous pride!
- Each member can submit up to two prints: one color and one monochrome.
- The first-place color and first-place monochrome prints will win $35 prizes, second-place prints will win $25, third-place prints will win $20.
- Each person can win only one cash prize so we can award cash prizes to 6 different people
The nitty-gritties:
- Print size should be 18x12 inches (or smaller)
- No watermarks or other artist identification is permitted on the front side, so that the voting will be blind and unbiased.
- To clarify: the final mounted print size is limited to 18"x12". If you want a border around your print, you'll need to print it smaller than 18"x12", perhaps by including a half-inch white border in your source photo.
- Glen paid $21 total for his two prints at Walmart, and they were ready 2 hours after he placed his order and specified the pickup location.
- Steve paid $15 for each print through Mpix, and they arrived in 5 days.
- We will hold a group event at our normal meeting location on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 6:30-9:00 PM to help everyone mount their prints to foam board. Just bring your print(s) and we'll help you do the rest.
- If you're not coming to the group shoot:
- Each print should be mounted on foam board using something like this photo mount spray adhesive (these are just examples, cheaper alternatives are surely available). Steve says that Dollar Tree has cheap but terrible quality 20"x30" foam board for $1.25, and Pete mentioned foam board with adhesive already on it is available. Members have been happy with foam board from JoAnne Fabric (oops) and Michaels.
- To clarify: the foam board size is limited to 18"x12". If you want a border around your print, you'll need to print it smaller than 18"x12", perhaps by including a half-inch white border in your source photo.
- Put your name on the back side of the foam board mounting (perhaps just a return address label), and also an indicator for "UP" if it's in any way ambiguous like some of Jeff's creations are.
- Submit your prints at the October 16, 2025 meeting
- Pete will take all the prints to his office for voting
- Your prints will be returned to you so you can recover your costs by displaying them in your home and enjoying them for years to come.
